Privacy

This describes what actually happens to your details on this site, not what a template says. If anything here does not match what you experience, tell us — that is a bug and we want to know.

The short version

• We set no cookies and run no analytics or tracking of any kind. There is no consent banner on this site because there is nothing to consent to.
• Send an enquiry and it goes to the boat’s operator so they can reply to you. We keep a copy for 90 days to confirm we passed it on, then your details are deleted.
• We never sell your details, and we never add you to a mailing list.

Who is responsible

charters.mt is operated by [TO_CONFIRM: registered company name], registered in Malta, company number [TO_CONFIRM: C-number], at [TO_CONFIRM: registered address in Malta]. We are the data controller for everything described here. Contact us at hello@charters.mt.

When you send an enquiry about a boat

We collect your name, your email address or phone number, and whatever else you tell us — the date you want, how many people, and your message.

That goes to the operator of the boat you enquired about, by email, so they can answer you directly. Their reply goes to you, not through us. We are copied on it so we know the enquiry was delivered.

Why we are allowed to do this: you asked us to. In legal terms, passing your enquiry on is a step taken at your request before entering into a contract with the operator. Keeping our copy afterwards rests on our legitimate interest in being able to show that we forwarded it.

How long: 90 days, then your name, contact details and message are deleted. We keep the fact that an enquiry happened — a reference, a date and which boat — because that is how we show an operator what we sent them. That record contains nothing about you.

When you list your boats

If you are an operator and you fill in List your boat, we collect your business name, your name, your email and phone number, your website, and what you tell us about your fleet.

We use it to set up and verify your listing and to pass you enquiries. Nothing is published until we have confirmed with you directly that you are who you say you are — which is also what stops anyone else listing your boats without asking.

Why we are allowed to do this: your consent, which you gave by ticking the box, and which you can withdraw at any time. Ask us to remove your listing and it goes the same day.

Reviews

Reviews shown on this site come from Tried & Tested and are about the operator, not about a particular boat. We show a first name and a last initial only — never a full name, an email address or a phone number — and we shorten the date to a month and a year.

Cookies and tracking

There are none. This site sets no cookies, loads no third-party scripts, and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking service. We do not know who you are, which pages you looked at, or where you came from.

If that ever changes, this page changes first and you will be asked before anything is set.

Who else handles your details

We use a small number of suppliers to run the site. They act on our instructions and may not use your details for anything of their own.

• Netlify — hosting. Processes the technical request logs any web server produces.
• Airtable — where enquiry and operator records are stored.
• Resend — sends the enquiry email to the operator.

[TO_CONFIRM: Airtable, Netlify and Resend are US companies, so enquiry data leaves the EEA. Confirm the transfer mechanism — Standard Contractual Clauses or EU–US Data Privacy Framework certification — for each, and name it here before launch.]

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict what we do with it, or to object. You can also ask for it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

Ask at hello@charters.mt. We do not charge for this and we do not ask why.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle it, you can complain to the Maltese supervisory authority, the Office of the Information and Data Protection Commissioner.

Changes

If we change how any of this works, we will change this page and update the date at the top.
